First Hoosier Super Tour WIN @ Buttonwillow Raceway Park
Sunday - P1
Asad won Sunday's Spec Racer Ford Gen3 feature at Buttonwillow Raceway Park in his first-ever SCCA National race start, topping a 28-car field that included reigning National Champion Caleb Shrader, five-time champion Mike Miserendino, and four-time champion John Black.
The result capped a weekend of steady progression. After a difficult Friday in practice, Asad qualified third on Saturday and finished the opening race in second behind Shrader, with Black completing the podium. Sunday, he claimed pole position and lined up at the front of the field for the 30-minute feature.
Shrader took the lead at the start, with Asad slotting in behind. The two ran together at the front for the majority of the race before Asad made a decisive pass in the closing minutes. He held the lead to the flag and posted the fastest lap of the race.
Shrader finished second. Miserendino was third.
SRF3 remains one of the most competitive spec classes in American club racing, and the 28-car Buttonwillow field reflected that depth. We’re looking forward to the next round of this series!
